According to the provincial People’s Committee, between 2010 and 2015, the province mobilised over VND24.3 trillion to carry out the program, leading to the results that in late 2015 each commune, on average, met 13 of the program’s 19 criteria, while 17 of 82 commune reached the standard of the program; and the income per capita increased by 1.5 times compared to 2010.
By carrying out agricultural re-structuring over the past 2 years, the area of high-quality rice cultivation has accounted for 80%, with rice productivity increasing by 11% compared to 2010. Meanwhile, the shrimp and aquaculture has been expanded, satisfying the demand for the domestic market and for export.
In the 2016-2020 period, the province will strive to help 50% or more of the communes and a district reach the standard of the program, and the rest to meet between 12-18 criteria. In terms of agricultural re-structuring, the province will focus on increasing the production of shrimp, rice and some key products of localities which present high productivity and quality.
Praising the efforts of the province in carrying out the program on building new style areas in difficult conditions, especially in the negative impacts of the world economy and climate change, NA Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien stressed that although people’s living standards had been improved, the province should provide people with greater access to education, culture and healthcare.
He noted that agricultural re-structuring should follow the conditions of climate change and sea level rise, while paying attention to increasing the quality of key products./.
