Cai Mep launches transport route to Northern Europe

On April 11th, the Cai Mep International Port in the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau launched a direct transport route to Northern Europe.

On April 11th, the Cai Mep International Port in the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau launched a direct transport route to Northern Europe.

After the launching, the port received Millau Bridge vessel of K Line firm, managed by Cosco, K Line, Yang Ming, Hanjin Shipping and Evergreen Line (CKYHE) alliance.

The vessel is 366 meters in length and 52 meters in width and has a capacity of 150,000 tonnes. After leaving Cai Mep Port, Millau Bridge will call at the ports of Singapore, Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and Felixstowe (the UK).

So far, Cai Mep has had direct international transport routes to the Mediterranean (one time per week), the East and West coast of the US (three times a week), and Northern Europe (two times a week).

After five years of operation, the Cai Mep International Port’s revenue increased by three times while cargo volume through the port jumped by seven times. The number of vessels of over 80,000 tonnes docking at the port also soared by five times. Currently, Cai Mep is the only port in Vietnam capable of receiving, loading and unloading super-size vessels of more than 150,000 tonnes./. size vessels of more than 150,000 tonnes./.
