The scholarships, each worth VND7 million (USD315.35), were granted to ethnic and needy students in Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces. They are expected to ease financial burden on students who recently passed the national high school exam and earned seats in colleges and universities.

The “Tiep suc den truong” scholarship belongs to the “Vi ngay mai phat trien” (For tomorrow’s development) project developed by the Tuoi tre (Youth) newspaper. Since its inception 13 years ago, the programme has provided over 50 billion VND (2.25 million USD) for more than 13,000 fresh students with difficulties.

Since the beginning of this year, the scholarships have been available for nearly 1,500 impoverished fresh students nationwide, according to Vietnam News Agency./.
