(VNF) - On May 14th, an incense burning ceremony hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy and Vietnamese community in Laos at the commemorative site of President Ho Chi Minh in Xiengvang village of the Lao province of Khammouane to celebrate the late President’s 127th birthday anniversary (May 19th).

Addressing the event, Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung recalled the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh, stressing that he symbolizes the bloc of great national unity and his thoughts are still considered a lodestar lighting the way for the country's revolutionary cause to win from one victory to another.

The diplomat also emphasised that Vietnamese expatriates in Laos would always contribute to national development and serving as a bridge to promote relations between the two countries.

For her part, Thummaly Vongphachane, Vice Chairwoman of the Central Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association, said the President had always respected and contributed to fostering a special friendship between the two countries. Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh and Party leaders in both countries, the Vietnamese and Lao have strengthened their bilateral ties and they have become an invaluable asset for both countries.

Many activities is being conduct this year to celebrate the 55th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the bilateral Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.

At the event, on behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Laos, Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung granted 50 gift packages worth 1,000 USD each to poor Vietnamese families in Xiengvang village.

The President conducted revolutionary activities in Laos’s Savannakhet Township and Xiengvang village between 1928 and 1929. For his contributions to the local revolutionary movement, the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party built a commemorative site in the village featuring photos and documents on his stay there and Laos’s fight for national liberation./.
