Conference Held to Review “Child-Centered Community Development Program in Lao Cai”

According to the conference report, by 2024, the project had benefited over 94,000 children across five districts of Lao Cai: Bao Thang, Bao Yen, Bat Xat, Muong Khuong, and Van Ban. The initiative has achieved significant milestones, notably increasing school readiness among preschool children from 29% to 63%, improving reading comprehension skills of primary school students from 26% to 50%, and raising awareness of reproductive health from 6% to 66%.  Additionally, the project built 238 clean water and sanitation facilities, provided career orientation for 13,000 students, and enhanced the skills of over 6,000 teachers and 53,000 parents. These efforts have contributed significantly to improving healthcare, education, and the overall quality of life in the community.
On November 26, in Lao Cai Province, Save the Children in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Lao Cai Provincial Project Management Board, held a conference to review the “Child-Centered Community Development Program in Lao Cai” for the 2019–2024 period. The event was attended by representatives from the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, various provincial departments, including the Departments of Education and Training, Health, Planning and Investment, and Foreign Affairs, administrators and teachers from 182 participating schools and representatives of Save the Children.
