The activity was part of Indian Minister of National Defence Manohar Parrika’s first visit to Vietnam on his post, on June 5th-8th, at the invitation of General Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member and Vietnamese National Defence Minister.

After the reception, the two sides had talks in which Minister Manohar Parrika confirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of India in the region, adding that India wanted to further develop friendly and cooperative relations with Vietnam, for the benefits of the two peoples.

Minister Ngo Xuan Lich stressed that India is both a close friend and an important partner of Vietnam. “Vietnam always prioritises boosting comprehensive relationship with India,” he said.

During the talks, the two ministers agreed that the defence cooperation between the two countries have been developed based on signed agreements, including in delegation exchanges, training and sharing of experience.

They also agreed to deepen the defence cooperation in accordance with defence cooperation deals and the joint declaration on the vision of the Vietnam – India defence relationship in the 2015-2020 period, under which the two countries will focus on exchanging delegations and training high quality human resources, bringing the defence relation to match the strategic partnership between the two countries, for the development of the two countries, contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the region and all over the world.

During the time in Vietnam, the delegation from the Indian Defence Ministry will attend the meeting with Vietnamese and Indian military industrial enterprises and visit some military units in Vietnam./.
