Inaugurated since early this year, the project extending power supply to the island included the building of nearly 16 kilometres of cross-sea submarine cable lines, over 17 kilometres of on-land lines, 6 transformer stations producing 900 kVA, 11 kilometres of transformer lines, and other supporting constructions.
Having been built with a capital of nearly VND485 billion, the project has been completed for official operation in September.
According to Nguyen Van An, Chairman of the Tan Hiep communal People’s Committee, 70% of the islanders are in the business of tourism services. “The power supply will help the islanders welcome a greater number of tourists, thus contributing to increasing the islanders’ living standards,” he said.
The completed project will also provide stable power supply for the islanders, bringing more opportunities for development on the island, as well as for Hoi An city, contributing to successfully realising the city’s socio-economic development targets, and protecting the nation’s sea and island sovereignty./.
