Therefore, the city has to construct perse measures to prepare for mitigation of the consequences caused by the natural disasters, said Phung Tan Viet, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee.
The city has released 18,500 handbooks on the prevention of the consequences of natural disasters among communities.
To contribute to the preparation, the city military headquarters and the city border guard headquarters have prepared forces and materials to rescue people should they be needed.
The storage of food, essential goods and medicine serving rescue work and prevention of diseases during natural disasters has also been a focus of attention by the authorised agencies.
Meanwhile, projects on coping with natural disasters, including increasing communities’ awareness and risk management in natural disasters; warnings of natural disasters through mobile phones; and risk management plans for enterprises, have continued.
The city has also installed integrated satellite information systems for onshore stations as well as fishing vessels going offshore.
Attention has been paid to afforestation to keep water and harmonise the natural flows.
On the other hand, the city will also invest in the building of a shelter area for people to get to for safety in the worst circumstances./.
