Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, receives Senior Lieutenant General Roberto Legrá Sotolongo, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chief of General Staff, Deputy Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces in Hanoi on October 24.

At the talks, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong said that the Cuban delegation's visit to Vietnam from October 19 - 28, 2023 is a vivid expression of close attachment and faithful relations between the two countries, particularly between the two armies.

The visit is even more meaningful as it takes place when the two countries have just celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with Vietnam - the predecessor of the Cuba - Vietnam Friendship Association, and 50 years of leader Fidel Castro's visit to Vietnam and the newly liberated area of South Vietnam in Quang Tri.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong believes that Senior General Roberto Legrá Sotolongo's visit will contribute to deepening defense cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Senior Lieutenant General Roberto Legrá Sotolongo talked about the situation in Cuba. He thanked Vietnam for supporting Cuba while emphasizing the close and strong brotherly relationship between the two countries and the two armies. He confirmed that he will make efforts to contribute to deepening Cuba-Vietnam relations.

The two sides agreed that the Vietnam People's Army and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces are the core and reliable forces of the Party and the solid support of the two countries' people. Defense cooperation has received attention from generations of leaders of the two countries and is one of the important pillars in the two countries' relationship, contributing to preserving revolutionary achievements, by the needs and strengths of each country.
