Deputy PM attends Vietnam Corporate Sustainability Forum 2015

On May 14th, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and nearly 300 representatives from international organizations, research institutes and business associations attended the Vietnam Corporate Sustainability Forum 2015 in Hanoi.

The forum offered a good opportunity for businesses and concerned parties to exchange information about new trends of sustainable development and discuss solutions and sustainable business models in the world and in Vietnam.

Addressing the forum, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam, who is also President of the National Council on Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Capacity, highlighted the Vietnamese government’s commitments to supporting the business community in improving competitive capacity and ensuring sustainable development, especially in the 2014-2015 period.

He added that the government issued a resolution on improving the business climate and enhancing the national competitive capacity.

He emphasized that businesses should promote their advantages to secure a firm foothold in the market, boost production activities, seek new outlets and seize opportunities from sustainable trends around the globe.

Vorapong Vorasuntharosoth, Government Affairs Director,South East Asia/ANZ, also stressed the need to develop a measurement tool acknowledging the efforts of businesses in the sustainable development process.

He added that the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) plans to implement a set of corporate sustainability indexes in accordance with Vietnam’s political and social situation, and international norms for concerned parties including businesses, authorities, investors and the public./.
