Popular newspapers and magazines printed in the 1865 - 1954 period are on display at an exhibition on Vietnamese press at Hanoi Library from April 18th - 21st.

The event is being held by the online forum sachxua.net, the Dong Tay Culture and Language Centre and the Hanoi Library to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21st) and 150 years since the first Vietnamese newspaper was published (April 15th).

The exhibition aims to introduce 150 years of Vietnamese press through rare publications from 1865 to 1954 and glorify famous journalists and newspapers in Vietnamese revolutionary press.

There was also a talk show on Vietnamese language press with the participation of translator Pham Xuan Nguyen, researcher Lai Nguyen An and writer Nguyen Truong Quy. The role of press in the national history was discussed, especially documents printed in the romanised-Vietnamese script, which was introduced to Vietnam by Priest Alexandre de Rhodes in 1865./.
