With a chartered capital of VND11 billion, the cooperative targets to effectively carry out production and business in the fisheries logistics while processing and selling fisheries products to create jobs and increase income for the cooperative members and labourers, helping to improve the local economy and social welfare.
The cooperative will buy all kinds of fish caught and provide essential food and necessities serving offshore vessels, as well as services after the fishing trips, including frozen storage.
In addition, the cooperative will also provide shipbuilding and repair services, dredge maritime construction, deal with environmental pollution such as oil spillage at sea, conduct rescue work, train captains and fishing vessel chef mechanics.
According to Bui Ngoc Duong, a member of the cooperative, as there is a shortage of preserved food and materials on fishing vessels, fishermen only conduct short-day trip, producing low productivity. Meanwhile, there is an increasingly high demand for fish on the market. On the other hand, fishermen do not have a place to sell their products with a good price.
Therefore, the establishment of the cooperation will support fishermen in conducting longer trips, thus increasing the quality and quantities of products, and raising fishermen’s income.
Da Nang city fishermen fish on an area of over 15,000 square kilometres, with many areas providing high value fisheries products, providing the reserves estimated at over 1.135 million tons. Each year, Da Nang city fisheries productivity reaches some 150,000-200,000 tons./.
