First photo contest on elderly people launched
The Health Ministry and General Office for Population- Family Planning have launched an online photo competition on the role of senior citizens in response to International Day for Old Persons (October 1) and the Action Month for the Vietnamese Elderly.

The contest is set to run from October 2 to 31, with the awards to be announced and presented between November 5 and 10.
All Vietnamese nationals and foreigners living in Vietnam are eligible to send in their entries to the email address nguoicaotuoi2017@cpcs.vn. Each person can submit a maximum of 3 entries, with each entry not exceeding 7 photos.
Submitted photos must have titles and captions of less than 200 words in Vietnamese. Their contents are recommended to focus on promoting the role of the elderly and communal assistance toward the group.

Vietnam has about 10.1 million senior citizens, accounting for some 11 percent of the population. The figures are expected to rise to 19 million people and 17 percent by 2030, and 28 million people and 25 percent in 2050./.
