These efforts included welcoming and arranging programs for the delegation of the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Association, which engaged with various universities, secondary schools, and enterprises in Vietnam in January 2024. Additionally, the Association’s leadership and Secretariat actively participated in cultural and sporting events hosted by the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam.
The Association also provided counsel to the President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations in organizing a courtesy meeting with the Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Shawn Steil. The meeting served as a platform to share insights on Vietnam’s socio-economic development and its achievements in promoting human rights.
Ambassador Nguyen Thi Hoi, Vice President of the Association, reaffirmed the strategic objective of Vietnam-Canada people-to-people diplomacy: protecting national interests, promoting economic development, fostering cultural exchanges, and enhancing Vietnam’s image among Canadian friends.
Therefore, the Association will intensify its efforts to advance friendly and cooperative initiatives through people-to-people channels, following the Vietnam-Canada Relationship Development Framework for 2020-2025 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Association will also collaborate with local governments, enterprises, educational institutions, and research centers to organize economic and cultural exchange programs.
