French orders presented to two Hue citizens

In the central city of Hue, on May 4th, French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean Noel Poirier presented the National Order of Merit and the Order of Academic Palms to two individuals in the city for their contribution to bringing the French culture to central Vietnam.

French orders presented to two Hue citizens
In the central city of Hue, on May 4th, French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean Noel Poirier presented the National Order of Merit and the Order of Academic Palms to two inpiduals in the city for their contribution to bringing the French culture to central Vietnam.

They are Nguyen Van Me, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Thue Thien-Hue province, and Buu Y, a Hue culture researcher. Mr. Me is also the former Head of Thua Thien - Hue provincial People’s Council and the former Head of Hue city People’s Committee while Buu Y is the former Director of Hue’s French Culture Centre.

Jean Noel Poirier, appreciated the contributions made by Mr. Me holds an important position in the cooperation between the French government and Thua Thien - Hue province in the fields of health and education development, creating Vietnam-France cultural marks, not only in Hue ancient capital but also throughout central Vietnam.

Mr. Me initiated the proposal to establish a French culture center in Hue and promotes the establishment of the Hue festival every-two-year.

According to the French Embassy in Hanoi, Mr. Y had conducted research on French culture in Hue, creating a bridge for French students and cultural researchers, promoting French culture not only in the central region but also throughout Vietnam.

At the awards ceremony, Mr. Me and Mr. Y expressed their thanks for the contribution of their French partners to strengthening the Vietnamese-French relationship through events and activities of the Parliament of the French Community and the International Association of Francophone Mayors./.
