On December 26 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organization (VUFO) held a ceremony on conferring the medal “For peace and friendship among nations” to Mr. Brian Edwin Teel, Senior Vice President, Director of Resource Development, former Country Director of Resource Exchange International (REI) in Vietnam.

At the ceremony, Mr. Phan anh Son, VUFO Vice President, Director General of PACCOM said: established in 1993 in Colorado, USA, REI-VN has been constantly supporting training and encouraging Vietnamese talents. For 20 years taking the position of REI-VN’s leader (from January 1999 to December 2018), Mr. Brian Edwin Teel has made great contribution to the development of Vietnam’s health and education sector.

Thanks to Mr. Brian and REI-VN, hundreds of thousands of hospital leaders, doctors, nurses, students and young lecturers have been trained in otolaryngology, orthopedic surgery, heart surgery and pediatric surgery. He is also actively campaigning for donors to donate medical equipment with the value of hundreds of millions US dollars for hospital in Vietnam and present numerous books for medical teaching.

On behalf of VUFO, Mr. Phan Anh Son expressed gratefulness for strenuous efforts of Mr. Brian Edwin Teel as well as REI-VN for Vietnam, hopeful that in his new position, Mr. Brian Edwin Teel will continue his valuable support to Vietnam in the coming years.

For his part, Mr. Brian Edwin Teel showed his emotion to receive Friendship medal from VUFO. He said that no matter where and in what position, his heart will always be for Vietnam.

The achievements and the development of REI-VN in Vietnam from 1999 to 2018 are inseparable with the contributions of Mr. Brian Edwin, as follows:

Mobilizing resources for REI-VN’s programs and projects. The budget for REI-VN programs has increased over the years, from about US$400,000 in periods before 2004 to over US$1million/year in recent years, specifically:

• From 1999 to 2004: the average total funding per year is from US$400,000 to US$500,000.

• From 2005 to 2010: the average total funding per year is from US$500,000 to US$700,000.

• From 2011 to 2018: the average total annual funding is from US$700,000 to over US$1,000,000.

Inviting a lot of excellent experts from the US and from all over the world come to Vietnam to support REI-VN’s projects. Every year, hundreds of expert come to work and support Vietnam.
