Friendship meeting marks Armenia National Day
(VNF) - At the headquarters of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the Vietnam – Armenia Friendship Association (VAFA) held a friendship meeting in Hanoi on September 17th to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s National Day (September 21st, 1991-2016).
The meeting was attended by VAFA President Nguyen Van Thuan, Vice Standing Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) and Secretary General of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) Ho Quang Loi, representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of friendship associations of countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States (SNG) and VAFA’s members.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia in Vietnam Raisa Vardanyan, representatives of Armenian Embassy and people who have lived and worked in Armenia, also attended the event.

Speaking at the event, VAFA President Nguyen Van Thuan said that after Armenia declared independence, Vietnam and Armenia established bilateral diplomatic ties on July 14th, 1992. The two sides have coordinated and supported each other at international forums.
After 25 years, Armenian people have made many achievements in nation-building, economic development and deeper integration into Europe and the global markets, he added.
Established since 2014, the VAFA has been actively organizing various activities to maintain and develop bilateral solidarity and friendship relations and cooperation while increasing mutual understanding between the two peoples. President Thuan continued to say that ministries and sectors of the two countries need to coordinate closer to make substantive improvements in their cooperation.

In reply, Ambassador Raisa Vardanyan expressed her gratitude to VUFO and VAFA for organizing the meeting to mark the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s National Day. She was delighted at attending the function and spoke highly of the friendship between Vietnam and Armenia.
The Ambassador expressed her belief that bilateral ties would further develop in the near future, especially in economy, culture and education. She also pledged that the Armenian Embassy would always welcome and completely support activities aiming to enhance the traditional friendship between the two countries./.
