Further Cooperation Promoted Between HCMC and Japanese Localities
As an economic leader and having a pioneering policy in foreign affairs and international integration, Ho Chi Minh City makes major contributions to Vietnam-Japan bilateral relations.
That was asserted by Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in a meeting with Komura Masahiro, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan on the morning of March 11.
Cuong emphasized that Vietnam-Japan relations are at the best stage of development ever. The upgrade of bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world is a correct recognition of the potential and opportunities for cooperation that the two countries have in a new stage of development.

Cuong also appreciated the constant support and attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for the organization of the Vietnam-Japan Festival series. That is said to be a great encouragement for the City and a vivid expression of the deep commitment to the development of the Vietnam-Japan relationship that has been nurtured by generations of leaders of both sides over the past half century. The government and people of Ho Chi Minh City always consider Japan as one of their closest and most sustainable partners. So far, the City has established friendly and cooperative relations with 7 localities in Japan.
On behalf of leaders of the City, Cuong requested Deputy Foreign Minister Komura Masahiro to support and promote the creation of direct information exchange channels between businesses of the two countries to create conditions for export and increase export value, connecting the City with potential partners and innovation centers in Japan. Thereby, helping the City access Japanese resources, experience, and technological and financial support in the process of building and developing towards a green and sustainable direction.
Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Komura Masahiro expressed his thanks to leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for the warm reception, as well as his pleasure to visit and work in the City in the context that the two countries have just successfully organized many commemorative activities in celebration of 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and upgrade the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world by 2023.
Komura Masahiro affirmed that Japan would further strengthen cooperative activities with Vietnam in a new partnership, bringing common benefits to both countries and the region.

Appreciating the government and people of Ho Chi Minh City for successfully organizing the Vietnam-Japan Festival in 2024, Komura Masahiro emphasized that Japan always attaches importance to cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City - the gateway to the economic corridor in the southern region and is ready to deploy cooperative activities between Japanese localities, Japanese partners, and Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, Japanese partners hope to cooperate and share experiences, technology and resources to contribute to the development of the City, especially in infrastructure construction.
Impressed by the strong and dynamic development of Ho Chi Minh City, the Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister thanked the City government for creating favorable conditions to support Japanese businesses investing and doing business in the locality. At the same time, he expressed the hope that the City will further improve the investment environment, creating conditions for Japanese businesses to continue to invest and do long-term business, bringing practical benefits to both sides and contributing to the overall development of Japan-Vietnam bilateral relations.
