The Sports Authority of Vietnam under Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association, and the Francophone Sports Association (AFS) on May 26 signed a sports cooperation agreement for the 2025 - 2028 period.

Through this agreement, the parties commit to increasing exchanges and promoting high-performance sports activities between France and Vietnam, aiming to improve sports achievements and prepare forces to participate in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028, 2032 and 2036 with the goal of winning medals.

The main objectives of the agreement include: Implementing a training program for 64 athletes and supporting 16 Vietnamese coaches in the period from 2025 to 2028 in France; organizing training programs, competitions and sports exchanges in France and Vietnam to enhance the effectiveness of sports training to reach Olympic level. From 2026, the French side will provide professional support to establish or upgrade a high-level sports training and coaching center in Vietnam; boost sportsmanship, cultural exchange and solidarity between French and Vietnamese youth.

The Vietnam Sports Administration will select athletes, coaches and officials to participate in programs within the framework of the agreement. This year, about 20 athletes will be trained in France, in athletics, cycling, swimming, shooting, weightlifting and para-athletics.

Also on the morning of May 26, a workshop took place themed “High-level sports can inspire business performance” attended by representatives of several sports centers in France, coaches and professional athletes, former shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh who won the 2016 Rio Olympics gold medal, weightlifter Le Van Cong, 2016 Paralympic gold medal.
