The Australia-Vietnam Green Economy Summit is a program implemented by Asialink and Climateworks Center, supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The forum is organized to promote cooperation between government and businesses in the field of green economy, aiming for sustainable development and successful transition to renewable resources.

The program will realize this goal by creating trade opportunities, sharing knowledge, connecting Australian and Vietnamese businesses, and making bilateral trade and investment conditions.

Vo Van Hoan affirmed that green growth is an inevitable trend and needs rapid transformation; therefore, Ho Chi Minh City needs Australia to share its experience in the green economy so businesses in the southern metropolis can meet the green standards of developed countries, including Australia.

Ho Chi Minh City, as the economic center of Vietnam, has favorable infrastructure, traffic connections, an abundant workforce, and a system of large universities that will facilitate multi-faceted cooperation with Australia. Ho Chi Minh City also launched a green economic development strategy with three pillars of policy including framework, quantification of emissions, and implementation of specific green economic models.

Professor John Thwaites thanked Ho Chi Minh City leaders for welcoming the delegation. He also said the Green Economy Conference organized by Australia in Ho Chi Minh City is the first step in realizing cooperation programs between the two countries.

The conference attracted hundreds of Australian and Vietnamese businesses and green economy experts. Professor John Thwaites highly valued the city’s potential for green economic development and pledged to enhance connections between businesses of the two countries on green economic development, job creation, and emissions reduction.

Businesses in the delegation hope that City leaders will create opportunities for Ho Chi Minh City to become a pioneer in green and sustainable development.
