Hanoi Announces Plan to Celebrate 70 years of Education Sector

According to Tran The Cuong, Hanoi’s education sector has achieved numerous notable accomplishments over the past 70 years, which have reinforced the role and status of the capital city. The year 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s education sector. In addition to specific, practical activities at various educational institutions to commemorate the sector’s journey of striving, building, growth, and development, as well as to encourage teachers, staff, and students across the sector to dedicate themselves to fulfilling their educational and labor responsibilities, the Hanoi DOET is organizing multiple events to celebrate this significant milestone.

The 70th Anniversary Ceremony of Hanoi's education sector and the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day will be held on November 12 at the National Convention Center, with 3,500 delegates in attendance representing preschools and general education schools.

Complementing the main event, there will be side activities, including a “March of the Capital's Students” on November 10 at the “Determine to Brave Death for the Survival of the Fatherland” Monument in the Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian zone, a “Songwriting Contest for Students,” a “Dedicated and Creative Hanoi Teacher” city-level awards, and the “Teachers through My Eyes” competition.

Representatives from Hanoi DOET highlighted that this year’s “Songwriting Contest for Students” attracted 1,024 entries at the local level. The organizers will award 70 prizes to the highest-quality songs, including four Special Prizes, 19 First Prizes, 25 Second Prizes, and 22 Third Prizes.

The “Dedicated and Creative Hanoi Teachers” Award, now in its eighth year, has seen participation from thousands of teachers across all educational levels. The selection committee has identified 70 outstanding teachers to be honored during the celebration.
