Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Secretariat and Deputy Head of the central steering committee on corruption prevention, on September 12th worked with the Standing Board of the Hanoi Party Committee after 10 years of the implementation of the 3rd PCC meeting resolution (term X) on increasing Party leadership on the prevention of corruption and wastefulness.

Hanoi reviews corruption prevention work

Over the past 10 years, the city Party Committee has built programs on realising the resolution, with a focus on educating about anti-corruption laws; practising thrift; revising, amending, issuing and making public mechanisms and policies, especially those in areas subject to corruption such as investment, finance, banking, the management of land, construction and personnel work; and increasing information and technology in tackling administrative procedures.

In addition, the city has dealt with over 25,000 complaints and denunciation, requested revocation of over VND359 billion and 161,628 square metres of land, charging 71 collectives and 204 inpiduals who are responsible for wrongdoings, and suggesting investigation in 7 cases with indications of criminal wrongdoing.

Addressing the meeting, Dinh The Huynh praised Hanoi for actively implementing the resolution.

He asked for continued solutions to prevent corruption, especially in officers causing obstacles for people and enterprises, in order to reinforce the people’s trust.

Stressing that the responsibility of Executive Boards of Party Organizations in corruption prevention had to be reinforced, in line with studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ethical example, he added that the Executive Boards and the heads of agencies must leave regular leadership in the operation of agencies, make strict coordination and mobilise the strength of the whole political system and the whole society in corruption prevention.

He suggested that the city should complete regulations on corruption prevention, and focus on controlling cadres’ and officers’ properties, especially those who hold positions most subject to corruption./.
