According to the newly-released Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2020, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) has been listed among the world's top 400 strongest universities in the field of engineering and technology.

HUST was named in the group of 301-400 universities in the field of engineering and technology.

The California Institute of Technology and Stanford University was ranked first while the University of Cambridge and Harvard University shared the third place, and the University of Oxford drops from first to fifth.

The rankings highlight leading universities in the field of engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil engineering and chemical engineering subjects. The assessment was based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

1,400 universities from 92 countries were included in the ranking, making it the largest and most perse university rankings ever to date.

HUST, founded in 1956 is Vietnam’s first multidisciplinary technical university. It is the industrial engineer training center of the country, and the cradle of high quality human resources for the country’s modernization and industrialization.

In 2015, HUST became an official member of the Asia-Oceania Top University League on Engineering (AOTULE). In 2016, the university topped the country in the SCImago list. In 2017, HUST gets Accreditation from High Council for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (France).

In February this year, HUST had three subjects listed in 500 of world best universities ranking by subjects 2019 by the education network Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), namely computer science and information systems, engineering-mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing and engineering-electrical and electronics.
