Over the past 5 years, women’s unions at all levels in the city have effectively carried out savings programs, including savings in spending, savings in energy use, and saving in organising weddings and funerals. As a result, over VND55 billion has been saved to build and repair 416 houses, provide over 896 tons of rice and distribute 7,073 savings books to poor women.

Meanwhile, the emulation movement encouraging the capital city’s women to study, work and build up advanced and happy families has also been carried out in connection with studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ethical example. A large number of women have actively studied to raise their qualifications, promoted creativity at work, contributed to maintain urban order and advancement, donated land and working days to build rural roads, and managed 8,400 sections of roads.

Recognising what has been achieved by women in Hanoi, Party Central Committee member and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang urged women’s unions at all levels to continue to increase studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ethical example, actively studying, working and building up happy families to satisfy the demand for development of the capital city.

According to Ms Hang, besides assisting each other in boosting economic development and poverty reduction, women’s unions should participate in ensuring urban order, encouraging people to protect the environment, especially in public places, and disseminating information about food safety.

During the ceremony, 384 outstanding collectives and inpiduals were awarded for studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ethical example and the emulation movement on actively studying, working and building up happy families./.
