Hanoi's largest inland container depot kicked off

(VNF) - The construction of Hanoi’s largest inland container depot in Co Bi ward, Gia Lam district was kicked off on May 15th by Hanel One-member Co Ltd and Lang Ha Tower Co., Ltd.

The construction of the 47.2ha depot will be pided into two stages, with the first one covering 19.2ha. For the first stage, total investment is projected VND781.8 billion, not including the entrance road sub-project. Once completed in the fourth quarter of 2017, this depot will be capable of handling 380,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units).

While the VND1,782 billion-second stage is designed to handle 760,000 TEUs annually once it is completed in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The depot is situated in a strategic location, near national highways No 1B, No 5 and Hanoi belt road No 3, a convergence of major road transport corridors of the Northern region and other seaports, international border gates in Hai Phong city, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Lao Cai provinces.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Duc Chung, Chairman of Hanoi city People’s Committee, stressed that the inland container depot project should contribute to accelerate the development of administrative reform of the city, modernization of Hanoi Customs Department, actively support import/export companies, as well as create favourable conditions for industrial parks in the capital region.

Using high-tech devices and professional management, it will provide services in logistics, storage (including frozen), and distribution for clients./.
