Hermann Gmeiner to maintain supports for needy children in Vietnam
(VNF) – Hermann Gmeiner will continue supporting needy children in Vietnam, stated representative of the German NGO in a working session with Phu Tho province People's Committee on Feb 13.

Phu Tho is one among 17 provinces in Vietnam which are under the sponsorship of SOS international. Hermann Gmeiner’s projects include: SOS children's village, Youth Facility, Hermann Gmeiner highschool, SOS kindergarten and SOS vocation training center, all are located in Viet Tri, capital city of the province.

Nowdays SOS Viet Tri has become home to 286 needy children and adults, in which the youngest is at 4 while the oldest one is at 29. 134 of them are taken care in 15 social centres and 152 are living in Youth Facility.

Since its founding 16 years ago, Hermann Gmeiner High school Viet Tri has trained 10,341 students. For the academic year 2016-2017, the school has a total of 26 classes with 1,017 students, of which 154 are from local SOS children's village.
Meanwhile, Hermann Gmeiner Vocation training center has trained 1,888 students since 2005, with 1,152 in intermediate level and 736 in elementary level.

After graduating from the school, over 85.5% graduates have found a stable job generating income for self-reliance, some even have managed to lift their families out of poverty.
Addressing the session, Ha Ke San, Deputy Chair of Phu Tho People’s Committee briefed about the strength, cultural value and potentials for development of the province. He stated: SOS Phu Tho provides positive environment to nurture and educate local children, especially the disadvantaged, facilitating growth and equipping them with necessary skills to live confidently when leaving the center. He also expressed his expectation of more supports from SOS international for Viet Tri SOS.
Dr. Christoph Marc Pressler, on behalf of Hermann Gmeiner, extended his thank for the warm-welcome reception, as well as the supports received from the provincial authorities. He also appreciated the achivements the province has attained, and affirmed SOS international would maintain its supports for Vietnamese children in general and Phu Tho’s children in particular, especially the needy ones.
SOS international also stated that they would have a look at the proposal of SOS Phu Tho and prepare a proper plan to meet with the needs./.
