Expressing his delight at the strong and substantive development of Vietnam-Japan relations in recent years, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the Government of Vietnam always attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with Japan in all fields. Son highly appreciated the efforts of Japanese Ambassador Naoki Ito in promoting the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership after 5 months of working in Vietnam.
Son asked Ambassador Ito to pay attention to promoting the substantive and specific implementation of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; continue to promote high-level visits and contacts at all levels, on all channels of the Party, State and National Assembly; conveyed an invitation to Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi to pay an official visit to Vietnam, co-chairing the meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee in 2025.

Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki highly appreciated the achievements of the cooperation between the two countries after 1 year of upgrading to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with political trust, exchanges and high-level contacts being promoted, in which in just 1 month, Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru had 3 talks, contacted with Vietnamese senior leaders such as President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at ASEAN, APEC, and G20 Summits.
The host directed the two sides to closely coordinate to accelerate the progress of key economic projects stated in the Fact-Sheet of economic cooperation in December 2023 through the "Vietnam-Japan Coordination Working Group" just established in October 2024.
Regarding the implementation of economic cooperation projects, especially the project to build the Vietnam-Japan University (VJU), the Japanese diplomat noted that Japan is committed to building a leading university in Asia and training high-quality human resources.
Also, Rector Furuta Motoo said that VJU has trained 400 masters, of which about 70% are working in Vietnam and 30% are working and researching abroad, with links with about 30 major universities in Japan. VJU will focus on training and research in the field of semiconductors, attracting international students and expanding cooperation with businesses of the two countries, he noted.
VJU is a symbolic project of cooperation between the two countries, said the host. He highly appreciated the interest and support of the Japanese side through the provision of technical aid packages and support of businesses and scientists in training, as well as the university's orientation on training human resources in fields of interest and priority in Vietnam such as semiconductor engineers.
