Over the past 17 years, the Ho Chi Minh city Study Promotion Society has received support from domestic and foreign organizations and inpiduals to assist disadvantaged students in developing their talents, said Le Minh Ngoc, Standing Deputy President of the city Study Promotion Society.

The model of talent promotion scholarships is carried out by an inpidual or agency pledging to sponsor a specific student throughout his or her tertiary education.
Established in 2000, the Society has provided scholarships to over 2,400 students under the sponsorship of 552 inpiduals and 40 groups and agencies with the total value of nearly VND21 billion. The scholarships have helped students graduate from universities, thus getting stable jobs after graduation.
Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu appreciated the city Study Promotion Society for its initiatives in encouraging study among communities, thus helping increase people’s knowledge, boosting poverty reduction, prevent social evils, and creating a firm foundation for the development of the life-long study movement.
She urged the Society to continue its efforts in mobilizing sponsorship for the scholarships.
On this occasion, the city Study Promotion Society presented 581 scholarships worth over VND1.8 billion to disadvantaged students./.
