"Information safety & data security: An urgent demand for the digital age"

(VNF) - This is theme of the Security World 2016, co-hosted by the Ministry of Public Security and International Data Group in Vietnam (IDG Vietnam), opened in Hanoi on March 29th.

It is the largest and the most prestigious national forum in Vietnam for information security since 2007, providing in-depth discussions to help government agencies, organizations; businesses update technology trends, approach effective information security and risk management solutions for businesses’ sustainable development as well as ensure the high level of security and safety.

This year’s conference aims to connect CIOs, CSOs, and IT professionals to discuss and share information security initiatives.

Vietnam has got a turbulent time on information safety in 2015. According to the latest global report from Kaspersky Lab in the fourth quarter of 2015, the nation ranks 3rd worldwide about the potential dangers with 35% of users attacked when accessing the web.

In fact, 87% of Vietnamese users notice the risk of losing information safety network but only 32% of those having the proper safeguards.

Besides, the event aims to help organizations and enterprises assess current information security threats, as well as suggest solutions for them to react to evolving threats as well as protect databases from data leakage.

It includes Keynote and two Sessions with the participation of IT experts and leaders from government agencies and businesses that specialized in information security.

Keynotes covered main topics as following: Current status and management of the Government to ensure information security in Vietnam; Information security development policies in Vietnam; Understanding and Defending today’s Cyber Threat Landscape; Microsoft learnings and expertise on security leveraging the power of big-data; Mobile Security Solutions; Enhancing cyber security and data security towards safer Internet environment; and Building Innovative APT Strategies to Protect Organizations.

Session 1: Information security in e-government: Threats & Solutions Information insecurity of the Government agencies has no longer been a risk but presented with severe. The Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) has recorded 18,085 infected websites that had spread malware on the Internet, including 88 State agencies’ websites in the first three quarters of 2015. The Center also detected 7,421 deface attacks, 164 of which were targeted on state agencies’ websites.

In addition, a large number of provincial IT departments are having personnel in charge of simultaneously managing information security.

Some key topics in this session listed as below: Leveraging incident advisory system for organizations’ information security; The best defense: Adaptive Trust; The evolution of malware threat mitigation; and How to improve information security with limited budget.

Session 2: IT System Security: Measures to enhance organizations’ prestige and efficiency Enterprises today are exposed to an ever-broadening range of IT security threats, from basic annoyances such as auto-emailed viruses, to targeted phishing-style attacks that trick employees into clicking on dangerous links that install malware, steal credentials, or in some other way jeopardize the security of the enterprise. Participants shared measures to enhance organizations’ prestige and efficiency, which cover professional tools and measures to support organizations and enterprise’s protection from illegal attack.
