Japan wishes to develop together with Vietnam
Chief Representative of Japan's Komeito Party Yamaguchi Natsuo said that Vietnam and Japan both experienced painful wars. Therefore, the two countries want to build a lasting peace.
"Japan wishes to help Vietnam overcome difficulties after the war, thereby deepening bilateral relations and developing together with Vietnam," said Chief Representative of Japan's Komeito Party.
Yamaguchi Natsuo appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese people in the post-war development of the country. He also recalled his first visit to Vietnam in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 1991, after Vietnam implemented Doi Moi (renewal process).
"After 32 years, when I returned to Vietnam, I am surprised by the economic development of Vietnam as well as the relationship between the two countries. I feel that the two countries are developing together," he said.
The Chief Representative of Japan's Komeito Party also said that he feels proud that over the past 50 years, Japan made certain contributions to Vietnam's socio-economic development.
Yamaguchi Natsuo said that the first two countries have many things in common such as having a population of 100 million, similarity in area and shape of the country. He believed that the people-to-people exchange relations between the two countries, which have developed in all fields, will continue to develop further, contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.
Sharing about the potential of cooperation, he said that for the economy to develop more, Vietnam needs the infrastructure with better roads, airports, bridges and railways.
Therefore, "I believe that Japan's official support to Vietnam in these fields will be an important factor to contribute to the development of Vietnam in the coming time," Yamaguchi Natsuo said.
Training high-quality human resources
Yamaguchi Natsuo also believed that high-quality human resources is the most important factor in helping Vietnam's economy develop. He said Vietnam needs to focus on training high-quality human resources to be able to shoulder the country's development tasks.
“Japan also had a period of development, accumulating experience and advanced techniques.
However, Japan is currently facing a declining population. Therefore, we are ready to be able to pass on those techniques and experiences to young Vietnamese people, so that they can return and contribute to the development of their country," said Chief Representative of Japan's Komeito Party Natsuo.
Currently, Japan and Vietnam are cooperating in training high-quality human resources to receive high technology.
The number of Vietnamese people studying, living and working in Japan is 500,000 people, of which the number of trainees is more than 170,000 people, and special skill workers (new regime applied from 2019) is 80,000 people.
Besides, there are also many Japanese enterprises investing in Vietnam with more than 1,000 enterprises. Therefore, Yamaguchi Natsuo believed that it is also necessary to have human resources to shoulder the fields that Japanese businesses invest in Vietnam.
He said Japan "expects a good cycle when Vietnamese workers are trained in Japan, and return home to continue working for Japanese enterprises investing in Vietnam for economic development."
Yamaguchi Natsuo shared his interest in training human resources to improve law enforcement capacity at sea to ensure maritime security and safety, implement natural disaster prevention and control, and protect freedom of navigation.
He said that Japan, including the Komeito Party, participated from the beginning in developing a program to supporting training high-quality human resources to improve maritime law enforcement capabilities.
"I think that the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in training human resources in the field of maritime security is also important in the coming time," Yamaguchi Natsuo said.
