A Japanese eloquence contest was held in the northern port city of Hai Phong on March 17 by the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, the Hai Phong Union of Friendship Organizations, and the city chapter of the Japan Business Association (JBA) in Vietnam.

The first event was held in the city in 2013 to mark the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan.

The 8th version attracts the participation of a large number of contestants from local businesses, foreign language centers, high schools and junior high schools. Through the preliminary round, the organizing committee selected 10 excellent contestants to participate in the final round.

In the final round, 10 contestants were divided into 2 groups, taking turns presenting presentations expressing their own views and understanding of the cooperative relationship and friendly cultural exchange between Vietnam and Japan, then continue answering the judges' questions to complete the exam.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People's Committee Le Khac Nam said that in Hai Phong, Japan is the leading economic, trade, investment, tourism and labor partner with important contributions from major Japanese economic groups. For many years now, Japanese has been taught at many high school levels in Hai Phong city, and has been positively received by students. Japanese is also a necessary tool for many students to continue studying at higher levels or participate in cultural exchange activities in the beautiful country of Phu Tang.

According to Nam, the 8th Japanese eloquence contest was organized to enhance mutual understanding between the people of the two countries, contributing to building a young generation fully equipped with skills, knowledge, and love for the peace of nations.

Nam also hopes that beyond the framework of this contest, the Japanese language learning movement will become a bright spot in the spirit of studiousness, contributing human resources and talents, contributing to cultivating and improving the friendly relationship between Hai Phong and Japanese localities to new heights.
