The 2024 Japan Job Fair attracted 22 Japanese enterprises, including 17 from Japan and 5 Japanese enterprises in Vietnam, namely Techno Pro, Katsura Vietnam, Tagger Travel, DataX, Nippon Express, and Sugino. The enterprises offered a variety of open job positions in fields such as languages, information technology, construction, engineering technology, and transportation.
In addition to the direct introduction and recruitment activities, the fair opens up an opportunity for Vietnamese students to learn about Japanese culture, cuisine, and working environment as well as the country and people. Students will get acquainted and quickly adapt to the future working environment through promotional booths and unique cuisine. Thereby, the event contributes to increasing the employment rate of students in Japanese Language faculties, meeting the growing needs of the labor market.

In the opening remarks, Dr. Le Xuan Truong, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, said that after more than 15 years of organization, the Japan Job Fair has become a bridge between students and employers. It supports the university with two-way information to improve the training process , meeting the strict requirements of the domestic and foreign labor markets.
According to Pham Minh Tu, Deputy Head of the Japanese Language Department of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, in recent years, the cooperative relations between Japanese and Vietnamese enterprises have been consolidated. Japanese enterprises show an interest in recruiting workers from Vietnam. Therefore, students majoring in Japanese Language have abundant job opportunities. Currently, 100% of students graduating from Japanese Language major in Ho Chi Minh City Open University are employed.
Businesses interview students in the fair. |
"Previously, Japanese enterprises recruiting workers in Vietnam typically relied on intermediary companies. However, these businesses now prefer to go directly to training institutions for recruitment. This approach not only allows companies to directly access quality human resources but also enables schools to understand the actual demands of the labor market, thereby adjusting their training programs accordingly," said Pham Minh Tu.
She further explained that due to increasingly stringent recruitment criteria set by Japanese enterprises, students must not only possess a degree in Japanese but also professional skills in fields such as hospitality, translation, and interpretation, as well as proficiency in English and Korean. Additionally, students need to understand Japanese culture to effectively collaborate with these companies. Based on these requirements, educational institutions need to develop appropriate and high-quality training programs to ensure that graduates of Japanese Language majors in Vietnam secure employment after graduation.
