Large waste treatment plant inaugurated in Lao Cai province
The Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee and the French Development Agency (AFD) on October 5th held an inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed waste treatment plant after 12 months of construction and trial operation.
The plant, built on an area of 30 hectares with a total capital of over VND81 billion, has a capacity of treating 100-147 tons of waste per day.
The construction is part of the project on the development of rural and tourism infrastructure in Lao Cai province adopted by the provincial People’s Committee in 2007.
This is the first large scale environmental project in the province and is expected to treat and recycle all waste from the 3 localities of Lao Cai city, Bat Xat district and Sa Pa town.
The recycled part of the waste will be used to produce fertilizer, helping to reducing the amount of buried waste and become more environmentally friendly./.
