Le Quoc Phong elected as First Secretary of HCM Communist Youth Union

With 100% of ballots, the meeting of the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on April 21st elected Mr. Le Quoc Phong, Party Central Committee alternate member and Chairman of the Vietnam Students Association, as First Secretary of the Central Committee (term 10) for the 2012-2017 tenure.

Earlier, on April 20th, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Party Central Committee (PCC) Secretariat member and Head of the PCC Commission for Organization, announced the Politburo’s decision ending the responsibility of Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh as the First Secretary of the Central Committee and appointing him as Secretary of the Nghe An provincial Party Committee.

Mr. Le Quoc Phong, 38, is a Master of Biology. He was involved in the mission since he was a student of Le Hong Phong High School in Ho Chi Minh city and served as Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Union from December 2012 to January 2014.

In December 2013, Le Quoc Phong was elected as Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (term 10), Chairman of the Vietnam Students Association (term 9). At the 12th National Party Congress, he was elected as a PCC alternate member.

Currently, the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union includes Mr. Le Quoc Phong, First Secretary; Nguyen Manh Dung, Permanent Secretary; and four Secretaries: Mr. Nguyen Phi Long, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation; Mr. Nguyen Long Hai, Chairman of National Committee on Youth; Mr. Dang Quoc Toan and Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan./.
