L’Oreal for Women in Science Awards honored five Vietnamese scientists
In Hanoi on November 13th, five Vietnamese scientists were received the 2015 L’Oreal For Women in Science Awards for their research on improving community healthcare and the environment.
The winners of the national awards included Dr. Ho Pham Thuc Lan, a lecturer from the Ho Chi Minh city-based Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine; Dr. Pham Thi Kim Trang, deputy director of the Centre for Environmental Technology and Sustainable Development (CETASD) under the Hanoi University of Science; and Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Lan Huong, researcher from the Water Resources University in Hanoi.

This year’s Rising Young Talent award went to Dr. Tran Thi Hien, a lecturer from the Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
Dr. Tran Ha Lien Phuong, a lecturer from the Ho Chi Minh city-based Vietnam National University, was honored with the International Rising Talent award for her project on the development of fucoidan-based polymeric micelles for cancer treatment and diagnosis.
Each winner of the award is a shining example in science. They have gradually proven that women can make significant contributions to scientific advances, said Managing Director at L'Oréal Vietnam, Brendon Urlich, at the ceremony.
The L'Oreal for Women in Science Awards was first launched in Vietnam in 2009 to support the development of women in scientific research./.
