The “Lottery win” comedy has been chosen for the qualifying round of the Best Foreign-Language Film award at the Oscars 2016.
"Lotterry win" comedy film
The film was directed by Vietnamese-American Dustin Nguyen. The film highlights Vietnamese culture and was screemed between October 1st, 2014 and September 30th, 2015 for at least seven consecutive days at commercial cinemas.
The film, which became a “phenomenon” during the 2015 lunar New Year, is based on a true story about a girl selling lottery tickets but not receiving her legitimate VND6.6 billion in winnings and causing a public outrage at the end of 2011.
The Best Foreign-Language Film award of the 88th Oscars is due to take place in Los Angeles in March 2016./.
