Market participants enjoy training program on environmental and social reporting
(VNF) - The State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC), the International Finance Cooperation (IFC), Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) and Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) co-hosted training programs on environmental and social (E&S) reporting for market participants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.

It compiles with the provisions in the Appendix of Circular No 155/2015/TT-BTC providing guidance on Information Disclosure on the stock market.

The 4-sections training provided guidance to the spokespersons from many listed companies and securities firms under the form of group working with direct supervisory of the training experts.

Speaking at the event, SSC Vice head, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien Hoa emphasized: “Nowadays, intangible assets such as brand value, governance and management capacity, environmental management efficiency, labor and social welfare are taking a large proportion in a value of a corporation. Through such training, SSC expects that the listed enterprises will increasingly gain understandings on the essentials of developing and improving those intangible assets, especially turn the assets into competitiveness in attracting partners, investors as well as take new business opportunities as Vietnam is going to implement many commercial and international investment compacts. This is not only to comply with legal obligations but also to take the opportunities in the context of deep international integration as today”.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thien Huong, IFC expert, IFC believes that commitment to sustainable development and the transparency in impacts on the environment, society and governance correlate directly to performance and long-term profitability status of a corporate.

Therefore, IFC commits to continue to support the SSC and all the Stock Exchanges in the effort of making information disclosure on environment, society and governance become common practices of Vietnamese enterprises.

The training will contribute to the stock market transparency towards international standards, attracting increasing investment demand into Vietnam capital market. This is also the foundation for the launch of HOSE’s sustainable products such as Sustainability Index, Green Corporate Bond… and the official issuance of E&S reporting guidance in the near future./.
