May CPI in Hanoi increases 0.12%
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in May 2015 continued to climb by 0.12% over a month earlier and by 0.93% year on year, reported the municipal Statistics Office on May 21st.
According to the statistics office, the main reason for this month’s price hike was due to petrol and oil increases from May 5th pushing up the price index of group transport by 1.05 % from the previous month.

In May, nine out of 11 commodities saw CPI rises over a month earlier. The most significant price rises in this month were for housing, electricity, fuel and building materials (1.44%), transport (1.06%), beverage and cigarette (0.47%), clothing, hats and footwear (0.3%) and culture, entertaining and tourism (0.28%).
Only restaurant and food services enjoyed a price reduction at 0.43% while post and telecom remained unchanged price.
Gold and the US dollar, which are not calculated in the common CPI, saw opposite changes when gold price in Hanoi continued to drop by 0.13% while the US dollar price rose by 0.44% against the previous month./.
