At the meeting, the two sides highlighted remarkable activities promoting the Vietnam – Morocco ties in people-to-people diplomacy including the Africa Day anniversary held in Vietnam for the premier time; the international conference “Historical memories sharings of Vietnam and Morocco

According to Ambassador Farhane, despite the geographic distance, Vietnam and Morocco has shared a close ties since the 1940, 1950, young Moroccan soldiers joined the French army in Vietnam to earn a living and support their families. But they later defected from the French troops and joined the forces of Ho Chi Minh to stand by Vietnam in the resistant war against the invaders. Many of them got married to local women. After the war ended, they put effort in supporting the development of Vietnam before repatriating with family.

Based on that foundation of ties, the Ambassador said he looked forward to seeing more growth in bilateral relations, especially the people-to-people ties.

According to Farhane, in 2018, the Embassy will continue promoting the Vietnam - Morocco friendship, via the facilitating the organization of various culture and arts exchange, such as the performance of a Moroccan jazz music band in Hue Festival; the African Day 2018. He also emphasized the Embassy's hope to receive the supports from VUFO in launching those meaningful activities.

On the occasion, the Ambassador proposed VUFO to help accelerate the chartering process of the Vietnam – Morocco friendship association, so the people-to-people links will be strengthened in a more effective and formal manner.

On behalf of VUFO, Vice President Don Tuan Phong appreciated the willingness and practical contribution of Ambassador Farhame in boosting bilateral ties among two peoples. He also suggested the two sides to join hand to launch other activities boosting mutual understandings between Vietnam and Morocco, such as photo exhibition, book introduction, seminar.

On the ocassion, VUFO Vice President invited Ambassaro Farhane to participate in the Spring Travel 2018, an annual cultural tour for foreign friends of VUFO in spring, which is scheduled on March 10./.
