National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has called on the joint efforts of the entire community to provide the best for children and create healthier environments in which children can live, study and play.

The NA leader made the request for children while addressing a live TV programme held in Hanoi, on October 1, on the Full Moon festival.

The programme, the 10th of its kind, is held annually by Vietnam Television and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, under the sponsorship of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

NA Chairman Ngan applauded the organisers for hosting the event, which nurtures the dreams of the country’s future generations.

She stressed that more practical events are needed to raise the awareness and responsibilities of schools, family and the community in caring for and protecting children.

At the event, gifts were presented to 300 orphans, children with disabilities and those living in difficult circumstances.

Thanks to the programme, millions of disadvantaged children across the country have been presented with scholarships, bicycles, textbooks and gifts over the course of the past ten years./.
