National Assembly elects Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh as new Vice State President

Over 450 National Assembly (NA) deputies, or 91% of the NA deputies, voted to elect Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh as the new Vice State President, according to a vote tally announced on April 8th at the NA.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Hoa Binh, President of the People’s Supreme Procuracy, was elected as President of the People’s Supreme Court with 95% of NA deputies’ votes in favour.

Le Minh Tri, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee Commission on Internal Affairs, was selected to be Head of the People’s Supreme Procuracy by 64% of NA deputies.

Resolutions on the elections were adopted by the NA with 94%, 90% and 76% of NA deputies’ votes in favour, respectively.

In his oath at the NA, President of the People’s Supreme Court said that he pledged to be absolutely loyal to the fatherland, the people and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and make concerted efforts to fulfil the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the People.

In his first speech, new People’s Supreme Court President Nguyen Hoa Binh affirmed that he would realise fully his oath, do his utmost to build up a pure and strong People’s Supreme Court which relies on the law to practice justice, firmly struggle for the prevention of crime, protect the right things and citizens’ rights, and completely realise the task of the judicial agency.

Before elected as Vice State President, Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, 57, born in the central province of Quang Nam, was Vice Head of the Office of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Vinh Long province’s NA deputies term XIII, a member of the NA Committee on External Relations, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Women’s Union, and Secretary of the Vinh Long provincial Party Committee. She was also NA deputy terms XI and XIII.

Nguyen Hoa Binh, 58, was born in the central province of Quang Ngai. He was a Party Central Committee member in terms XI and XII; was Major-General, Deputy Head of the Public Security Ministry’s General Police Department; Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the Quang Ngai provincial Party Committee. Before being elected as President of the People’s Supreme Court, he was President of the People’s Supreme Procuracy.

Le Minh Tri, 56, born in Ho Chi Minh city, is Party Central Committee member term XII. He was Deputy Secretary of Party Committee and Chairman of People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh city’s District 1; Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee; and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee Commission on Internal Affairs./.
