When put into operation (scheduled in June 2019), the factory can generate a maximum amount of electricity of 450 million kWh per year. The electricity will be used to supply energy needs for Ninh Thuan province and other province in the country.
With total capacity of 204 MW, this will be the biggest solar power energy plant in the country, and also the first combined renewable one in Vietnam, when the project site is used to locate both wind turbine tower and solar panels to generate the two kinds of energy.
In a bid to increase the plant's capacity by an additional of 15-20%, solar panels will be installed on a platform and automatically rotate through 120 degrees, to adjust the directions of these panels to absorb more sunlight and avoid shadows caused by wind turbine towers.
Ninh Thuan province receives an average daily amount of sunshine of more than 4.5kWh per square meter, and a protracted daytime of 7.5 hours a day.
Based on this advantage, Ninh Thuan province should promptly tap into its potentials to become the nation’s center for renewable energy, according to Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly, Phung Quoc Hien./.
