Over 11,000 tonnes of lychees shipped to China via Lao Cai border gate
Over, worth nearly US$6 million in total, have been shipped to China via the Lao Cai border gate, said the Lao Cai international border gate customs sub-department last week. The fruit was sourced from orchards in the northern provinces of Bac Giang and Hai Duong.
The customs sub-department has closely co-ordinated with the provincial border guards and plant quarantine checkpoints at Kim Thanh border gate to create the most favourable conditions for the export of fresh lychees to the Chinese market.
Accordingly, shipments of fresh lychees quickly undergo customs clearance for export and trucks loaded with fresh lychee are given priority for customs clearance in order to reduce congestion and the waiting time for the drivers and fruit owners.
Though it is not yet peak season for lychees; the total amount of lychees shipped to China through Lao Cai’s border gate so far is around 2,000 tonnes higher than the same period last year.
