Delegates participating in the event included Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu, Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam, Head of the Diplomatic Corps, Saadi Salama; VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga; together with leaders of central agencies.
Held on January 16, the gathering was an opportunity for the hosts and guests to look back on what were collectively accomplished on the journey of promoting peace, solidarity, friendship and foreign NGOs activities in 2019.
Speaking at the meeting, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga expressed her sincere thank to the Ambassadors, diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations and foreign NGOs in Vietnam for their friendship, supports and effective cooperation, as well as the trust and partnerships with VUFO and COMINGO.
VUFO President also expressed her belief that, based on the momentum of the effective cooperation over the years, in 2020, the year marking many significant events of Vietnam and VUFO, international friends will continue to support and cooperate closely with VUFO. VUFO, for its part, will do its best to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation, contributing to the robust development of Vietnam, as well as promoting peace, friendship, cooperation and development in the world
On this occasion, VUFO President also thanked the leaders of the Party, State, Government and the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front for the valuable guidance, and related ministries, unions and localities for their assistance for VUFO to successfully complete its tasks.
On behalf of the Diplomatic Corps and international organizations, Ambassador Saadi Salama voiced his belief that VUFO will continue to play its vital role in promoting people-to-people diplomacy via close cooperation with NGOs and peace-loving people worldwide. Through fulfilling its role in advocating the struggle for peace, independence, democracy and development, VUFO, at the same time, can help convey the credible image of Vietnam.

In his speech, Ambassador Salama also affirmed his willingness to continue promoting multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and other countries as well as organizations across the world on the basis of mutual benefits, for the equality, prosperity, cooperation and sustainable development in the world.
On behalf of foreign NGOs working in Vietnam, Founder and President of the AIP Foundation Greig Craft emphasized the supports of foreign NGOs for Vietnam through thick and thin, and spoke highly of VUFO and COMINGO:
"It is gratifying to watch the progress of the nation, and especially VUFO and COMINGO.Your care and compassion for the people of Vietnam is laudable and inspiring. We pledge our support and commitment to VUFO and its leadership" he said.
Speaking at the gathering, NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu congratulated VUFO and COMINGO on the achievements of the past year and extended sincere thanks for international friends's supports and assistance for Vietnam in the recent years, especially in reducing poverty, tackling social issues, environment protection, reponse to climate change, postwar recovery, supporting disadvantaged people.

On the occasion, NA Vice Chairman voiced his hope that international friends will continue to contribute to the development of Vietnam. "The Vietnamese agencies will continue to create favorable conditions for your activities for the above goals and, together with you, we will strengthen and deepen our friendly, cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship", he affirmed.
