Over 90 countries import Ca Mau shrimps
With favourable climatic conditions endowed by nature, Ca Mau has led the Mekong Delta provinces in shrimp production. Currently, nearly 300,000ha in the province are dedicated to shrimp production, with a turnover of nearly 150,000 tons and an export value of nearly US$1 billion.
Ca Mau shrimps have been exported to over 90 countries worldwide, of which the US, EU, Japan, China and Australia make up more than 65% of the total export value.
The vice director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Chau Cong Bang said in order to boost shrimp exports in the coming time, the province has boosted coordination among breeders, processors and exporters, and better management of variety, environment and infrastructure for breeding areas.
Particularly, the province has improved extensive and intensive shrimp farming systems in key areas to raise productivity while ensuring sustainable development and environmental protection, said Mr Bang./.
