Palestine Looks to Boost Ties With Vietnam

On June 25, at the headquarters of the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Arab Republic of Egypt, concurrently accredited as Ambassador to the State of Palestine Nguyen Huy Dung presented the credentials letter of President Vo Van Thuong to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in an online form. Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung officially became our country's non-resident Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Palestine.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung expressed his honor to be appointed Ambassador of Vietnam to Palestine. He affirmed that he will try his best to contribute to consolidating and developing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Palestine.
The Ambassador conveyed cordial greetings from the President and senior leaders of Vietnam to President Mahmoud Abbas. Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung informed the President of Palestine about the socio-economic development achievements as well as the outstanding results of Vietnam in more than 35 years of Doi Moi (renewal process).
The Ambassador said that Vietnam always supports the just cause as well as efforts to promote peace and development of the Palestinian people.
President Abbas welcomed Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung to perform his duties in the State of Palestine. He wished the Ambassador to successfully complete his duties during his term, contributing to consolidating and developing the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Palestine.

Abbas emphasized the strong friendship between the two countries and the two peoples. He also expressed his admiration for Vietnam's development achievements and wished to further develop the traditional friendship with Vietnam.
On behalf of President Abbas, Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo Diab Allouh received the letter of credentials from Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Huy Dung.
In 1976, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) set up a permanent office in Hanoi. Vietnam recognized the State of Palestine and established diplomatic relations with Palestine on November 19, 1988.
In 2012, Vietnam voted in favor of the Resolution granting Palestine non-member observer state status at the United Nations General Assembly.
Vietnam also supports Palestine to join international organizations such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
Vietnam, Palestine Step Up Cooperation on Crime Prevention
Minister of Public Security To Lam and Palestinian Ministry of Interior Ziyad Habalreeh agreed to increase information exchange and promote professional coordination, handling transnational crimes and crimes involving citizens of the two countries.
At the talks, the two sides agreed to strengthen the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations to understand the needs and potentials of cooperation between the two countries in the field of security and order.
They enhance information exchange and promote professional coordination, especially information on world and regional situations of mutual concern.
The two countries cooperate in handling transnational crimes and crimes related to citizens of the two countries. They do not allow any organization or individual to take advantage of the territory of one country to operate against the other.
The Vietnamese people support the righteous struggle of the people of Palestine for independence and freedom.
