This is an annual activity, contributing to strengthening cooperation between localities of Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand on the East-West Economic Corridor route.
According to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse, the Forum welcomed leaders from four provinces in Southern Laos (Champasak, Salavan, Sekong, Attapeu), one province in Thailand (Ubon Ratchathani), and 18 provinces and cities across Vietnam. Among the Vietnamese participants, six localities—Da Nang, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, and Binh Phuoc—were present in person, while the remaining 12 joined virtually. Additionally, the event saw the participation of representatives from the Vietnam Business Association in Japan and Southern Laos, along with numerous enterprises from all three countries.

In her opening speech, Vietnamese Consul General in Pakse, Ta Phuong Dung, emphasized that the Forum serves as a practical initiative to implement the strategic vision of expanding economic collaboration among participating countries. It aims to strengthen connectivity between Southern Laos, Ubon Ratchathani (Thailand), and 19 localities in Vietnam. The event provided a valuable platform for businesses to conduct market surveys, establish investment connections, foster people-to-people exchanges, and explore cooperation opportunities in trade, tourism, and investment, ultimately contributing to sustainable development along the East-West Economic Corridor.
Secretary and Governor of Sekong Province, Leklai Sivilay, highly valued the significance of the Forum, particularly as the three countries prepare for important celebrations in 2025. He emphasized that the event effectively harnessed the potential of Southern Laos—especially Sekong—by strengthening connections with Vietnamese localities and Ubon Ratchathani Province (Thailand), while opening up numerous investment cooperation opportunities for businesses across the three nations. Additionally, the Forum provided a platform for localities to exchange insights on their strengths, potential, and preferential policies, paving the way for substantive and effective collaboration.
The Forum featured 12 speeches from local leaders and business representatives of the three countries, focusing on introducing the economic potential and advantages of each locality, sharing experiences in executing successful investment projects, and proposing strategies to enhance connectivity along the East-West Economic Corridor.
As part of the Forum, the 2025 Trade and Tourism Fair took place, showcasing 47 booths from Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. The Fair served as a dynamic platform for businesses to connect, promote OCOP and ODOP products, highlight distinctive tourism and cultural offerings, and facilitate trade promotion. It also enabled enterprises to seek investment partners, contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of localities along the East-West Economic Corridor.
