Promoting cooperation between Ho Chi Minh city and France

During the reception, Secretary Thang said he hoped that France would continue to maintain official development assistance (ODA) for the city, especially in infrastructure, flood prevention, and water supply and environment projects.

Regarding educational, training and cultural cooperation, the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee Secretary said he wanted France to engage with talented engineers and high quality graduates, grant more scholarships to students and trainees, and increase assistance to Vietnam in training cadres.

“Ho Chi Minh city will continue to create favourable conditions for French investors to do business in the city, especially in areas where French investors are strong and Ho Chi Minh city is in need, such as finance and banking, trade, transport, posts and telecommunications, electronics, information and technology, science –technology, tourism, healthcare, education and training, pharmaceutical chemistry and food processing,” he said.

For his part, French President Francois Hollande confirmed that during the implementation of the France – Vietnam strategic partnership, many effective economic, environmental and medical projects have been carried out. He pledged to introduce to Vietnam France’s best technologies.

He expressed his hope that the two sides would accelerate cooperation in education and training, especially developing a French speaking community, and developing the French culture in Vietnam and the Vietnamese culture in France./.
