Punishment given to 2,170 organizations with environmental violations
In the 2011-2015 period, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) inspected 3,440 industrial foundations, fining 2,170 a total of over VND277 billion and forcing them to address the environmental consequences of their violations, MONRE has reported.
Identifying that inspection is one of key priorities in State management, MONRE affirms that it has accelerated inspection over law violations in terms of environment, contributing to changing the awareness, attitude and responsibility of organizations and inpiduals over environmental protection.
It has focused on inspecting the compliance with legal regulations on environmental protection, especially in foundations that report high volume of waste released into the environment, those that are at high risk of polluting the environment, and those that cause serious environment impacts, as well as those that draw complaints by people and press agencies.
As a result, violations have been completely dealt with, ending hot spots of environmental pollution in localities.
To heighten the efficiency of environmental inspection, MONRE plans to ask the Government Inspectorate, in collaboration with ministries and sectors, to study and set up a stable and long-term inspection model./.
