Recycle old bicycle for needy people

Recycle your bicycle for a better world.

The bikes are donated through Reece Guihot’s initiative The Development Cycle Project (TDCP), which sources suitable bikes from generous supporters and departing families in Hanoi and redistributes them to Vietnamese communities living in low socio-economic conditions (focussing on women and ethnic minorities in Vietnam). Guihot has been volunteering for our Community-Based Tourism project since its commencement in since 2016 , investigating new biking routes and designing mountain bike tours.

Of the two bicycles donated one was donated by Reece Guihot’s daughter, and the other supplied by The Hanoi Bicycle Collective (who assisted through a generous reduction in price to ensure quality bicycle to the project). In addition to the two bikes donated on May 24, The Development Cycle Project will also be donating a third mountain bike to the project, that was donated by a family living in Hanoi.

Established in 2017, The Development Cycle Project (TDCP) sources donations of unwanted bicycles from people living in Hanoi (primarily departing expats), and works with a local service partner to have the bicycles repaired and brought up to full working order. These bikes are then donated to remote village communities in northern region of Vietnam to help them establish economic independence, and also to charities and social enterprises working in Hanoi to support street kids and children in trouble.
